The Merry Wives of Windsor
July 13 @ 7:30 pm - July 27 @ 7:30 pm£16.50 – £26
“Wives may be merry, and yet honest too.”
The fat knight Sir John Falstaff is in love again (or is that lust?) with two respectable ladies, and their husband’s money. Unbeknown to him, the two merry wives hatch a plan to teach the old rogue, and their frantic husbands, a thoroughly good lesson.
Shakespeare’s irresistible comedy has become the blue-print for many iconic British sitcoms from Fawlty Towers to The Vicar of Dibley, and we’ll be paying homage to the genre in this new production.
Last staged by GSC in 2012 in the Castle Gardens, this time we’re taking you to brand new venue at the top of Stoke Park – the enchanting Stoke Park Railway.
We last staged Merry Wives in Golden Jubilee Year 2012 with a 1950s setting, and we’re delighted that Caroline Devlin who directed that production is returning to helm this one, along with GSC regular designer Neil Irish.
Cast to be announced later in the Spring.
