A new play by Lynda Strudwick, directed by Kate Napier
1950s English suburbia where everything is in place and everyone knows their proper place. Morality is defined in black and white. Woe betide anyone who steps out of line. The women who are ‘those sort of girls’ have ‘illegitimate’ babies who are adopted by respectable matrons.
But all that suffering cannot be ignored forever.
Just after the War there is an epidemic of illegitimacy and those women who are devastated by their childlessness have an opportunity to create their own family.
Rosa is a child who longs to know her ‘real’ mother, but is this wise? It may be a wise child who knows her own mother, but perhaps a wiser one may let well alone. The play follows Rosa’s journey to where she knows herself as she is and where she is going.
Performance: November 16th and 20th, 7.30 – 9.3o
