Christmas at the Castle
December 7 @ 11:30 am - 3:30 pm
Come to Guildford Castle to enjoy the traditions of Christmas time past. Follow King Edward III and Queen Philippa of Hainault as they process up Guildford High Street to Guildford Castle to celebrate Christmas with much noise and mirth! We have plenty of engaging and interactive activities planned for the day, including: Historia Normannis, a living history group, will be bringing the past to life in the lower Castle Grounds, near Peakes Pond.
Procession from the Undercroft (Guildford High Street)
Past Pleasures, a historical interpretation company, will be organising the arrival of the king and queen and their procession
The procession leaves from the Undercroft (located on Guildford High Street, opposite the Angel Hotel) at: 12pm noon, 1.30pm and 2.30pm
After leaving the medieval Undercroft, the procession will make its way to the Castle Grounds, arriving at the Castle for traditional music and dancing led by actors from Past Pleasures.
Craft activities – make your own Crown
We will be getting crafty and making our own crowns as part of the celebrations. Come along and join in the fun!
With lively, fun activities to interest all the family, the group will provide an insight into life in a medieval village.
Come along and travel back in time to Guildford in the 12th century!
