Art and the Great War

The Great War radically changed the world; both society generally and the public perception of the globe were altered. The role art played within this upheaval is complex. Neither outright propaganda, nor criticism, make for the best art. The strongest statements are more nuanced and grow out of individual experience and vision. We will look at this range of responses, as well as how the war influenced art and how art influenced views of the war.
